Energy

Solar-powered fabrication lab.

An off-grid energy system designed to turn sunlight into dependable working power for 3D printers and shop tools.

The project

I designed and built a solar and LiFePO₄ battery system for an off-grid workspace. The complete power path had to collect energy, store it safely, convert it to a usable form, and support the changing loads of fabrication equipment.

01

Generate and regulate

Connected solar generation to a charge controller to manage incoming power before it reached the battery bank.

02

Store and convert

Integrated LiFePO₄ energy storage and an inverter to supply the tools used in the workspace.

03

Observe the whole system

Monitored power flow and adjusted load usage around the limits and behavior of an off-grid system.

What it developed

The project turned separate components into one practical energy system. It reinforced how generation, storage, conversion losses, wiring, and real loads must be considered together.
