The project
The motherboard presented a short that required diagnosis below the replace-a-module level. I traced the fault through the board, performed component-level soldering, and checked the repaired circuit before returning the device to service.
Isolate the fault
Used electrical measurements, continuity checks, and signal tracing to narrow a system failure to the board and then to the affected circuit.
Repair the board
Removed and replaced the failed component using chip-level soldering methods suited to compact electronics.
Verify the result
Checked signals and system behavior after the repair to confirm the fault was resolved rather than merely hidden.
What it developed
This work strengthened a troubleshooting approach I use across systems: observe the failure, form a testable hypothesis, isolate variables, repair the root cause, and verify performance afterward.
